Doug McCormick is a founding board member of the Pelzman Institute for Healthcare Innovation. He is a media professional with over forty years of experience. Currently, he is an Operating Partner with Rho Accelerator, a fund from Rho Capital Partners, a New York based private equity firm.
Doug is currently the Chairman of the Board of Everyday Health Inc. (NYSE: EVDY) and is a member of the board of directors of Media General Inc. (NYSE: MEG) and the former Chairman and CEO of iVillage Inc. (Nasdaq: IVIL). Mr. McCormick is the former CEO of Lifetime Entertainment Services, where he and his team created the “Television for Women” brand and also launched the Lifetime Movie Network.
Doug is a member of the board of directors and the former president of Cancer Research and Treatment Fund associated with Weill Cornell NY Presbyterian Hospital. He is a trustee of the American Management Association and a volunteer with Edge 4 Vets. Doug is the husband of Kasia McCormick, who also serves on the Pelzman Institute for Healthcare Innovation board of directors.
Vice President, Founder, Executive Director
Dr. Pelzman is a national voice for improving the healthcare system. His weekly MedPage Today column “Building the Patient-Centered Medical Home: An Internist’s Journey,” is read by thousands of healthcare professionals every week.
As medical director of Weill Cornell Internal Medicine Associates, a faculty practice of New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Pelzman oversees one of the largest outpatient primary care practices in New York City. In addition to caring for patients, he guides Internal Medicine residents in the practice of outpatient medicine, does research, and develops outpatient curricula.
Dr. Pelzman has long had an interest in practice transformation. Over the years he has worked to develop new ways to deliver care to patients, and focused on inspiring the next generation of medical students, housestaff, and junior faculty to pursue careers in primary care.
Dr. Pelzman received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and began his career as a clinician-educator after completing his residency at the University of California, San Francisco in 1996.
Katherine (Kasia) McCormick is a founding member of the Pelzman Foundation for Healthcare Innovation. She currently sits on the board of the Cancer Research and Treatment Foundation also connected with New York Presbyterian Hospital, a position she has held for over 15 years. Kasia also does volunteer work with the Alliance for Fertility Preservation. Kasia, a native of Poznan, Poland is a former fashion model who speaks four languages fluently, enjoys babysitting her step-grandson and daughter, traveling, photography and working as a volunteer with her local church lunch program. Kasia lives in Manhattan with her husband Doug who is also a Pelzman Foundation for Healthcare Innovation founding board member.
Steve Elkes is a business professional with over thirty years of experience and over a decade of philanthropic pursuits. Steve’s business highlights include President of Surface Travel, a NY based enterprise; Executive Vice President of Corporate Development for Health Guru, a NY based Internet health company start-up which was sold in 2014. Steve is the former CEO of Dailymakeover.com, a NY based start-up, now part of the She Knows Media group. Steve was the Chief Revenue Officer and Executive VP of M&A at The Street.com (NASDAQ: TST) and the former Chief Financial Officer of ivillage.com. (NASDAQ: IVIL). Steve has a MBA in Corporate Finance from Baruch College.
Steve serves as a founding board member of the Pelzman Foundation for Healthcare Innovation. He is also a trustee for a family foundation and is on the board of the Cancer Research and Treatment Fund associated with Weill Cornell-New York Presbyterian Hospital and is a member of the boards of nonprofits FYI and ISKME.
Susan is president of FC Modular. She is a proven producer in creating, developing and leading successful businesses servicing the New York City real estate customer base. Through strategic planning and performance management, she has demonstrated success in companies involved in consulting, project management and manufacturing. Susan is effectively committed to organizational health as a path to increasing asset value.
